Dear Gypsy family,

Today I got 2 letters from you.  That makes up for the one I didn't get yesterday.  I suppose by now you are most all home except Carol so you should have lots to write about.  It was sure good to hear from you but I noticed that one of the children, I won't mention His name, his misses several days now.

That must have been some birthday cake.  Well, at least it didn't blow up.  I bet it even tasted good.

Poor Dolly must have been a very good hog to make such tender pork chops.

I hope you have gotten the letter about conference by now.  If not, Brother Norrs was called as 2nd counselor in the district.  There were about 300 guys from 22 different groups.

Don't get your hopes up about a hope chest.  They are too darn big to ship, must be 5 feet long.  Besides, you have your big trunk.  Why don't you get a batch of ambition and repaint it black?

Yes, I am on separate rations.  They put all the AF people on, but the Army won't let their men draw it.  They have to have a meal pass.  But, I've got to start the cutback - I weighed today and had gained 5.

I hadn't heard anything about a cut of 15,000 men in Saigon.  But it won't make any difference to me.  This program has got Nixon's personal support.

The credit union should send a statement each 3 months and I would like to see them each time, just to keep check on them.

I really appreciate your newspaper clippings.  It's nice to keep up on all the local news.  When I work all day I sometimes don't get the Stars & Stripes as it doesn't get to the base until about 1:30 (I go to lunch from 11 to 12:15) and the news stand closes at the hotel at 6 and I don't get there until after 6:30.  Usually IA can borrow one to read, though.

I find that 21st birthday hard to believe.  Remember, I was supposed to wait till you are 40 and then trade you for two 20's.  By that time I may need 2 to take care of me in my old age.

Well, I'm writing this at work.  Today I got ride of my TSgt and got a SSgt new from the States.  I think it will work out better.  I found that the tech had foot in mouth problems.  Well, it's time to get back to work.  Sure wish I was with you all gallivanting around the country.  I love you.

The Old Man, Daddy
